Shale Gas Outrage Protest in Philly

On September 20th, the Fracking Industry is gathering again at the Convention Center in Philadelphia for its annual conference. The Bus for Progress will be there too, along with hundreds (if not thousands) of protesters to shed light on the dangers of this practice. Click here. We are working in conjunction with our friends from Food & Water Watch.

The rally begins at noon on the steps of the Convention Center. Speakers include Sandra Steingraber, Josh Fox, Stephen Cleghorn and more. The rally will be followed by a march through the streets of Philly. We are seeking permission to drive the Bus in the march as we did in Washington (which was great fun!). We'll let you know.

The Bus will be making four stops on the way to Philly (please arrive at each stop 10 minutes early):

9:30 AM in Red Bank behind the Tri Parkway Corporate Park building, 200 Schultz Drive (enter at intersection with Half Mile Road), just blocks from the Garden State Parkway 109 entrance.

9:50 AM at the Wall Township, Garden State Parkway Rest Area (mile 100). The bus will pick up folks from the commuter lot at the very south end (down the hill towards Belmar Blvd.).

10:20 AM at the Jackson Outlet Mall at 537 Monmouth Road (Exit 16, just north of Highway 195). The bus will pick up in front of the Banana Republic on the north side.

10:45 AM at the Home Depot parking lot on Route 130 in Hamilton, just south of I-195.

We'll be leaving Philly around 4 PM and returning to our last stop (Red Bank) before 6 PM.

We are asking for a donation of $28 per person to ride the bus. Proceeds go to help the Bus For Progress and its non-profit organization. The bus holds 25 passengers, and will be filled by the first people to send donations.
